<p>I was wondering how the Presidential scholar award and/or the Congressional Award are viewed by colleges. Do colleges care that someone got these awards or is it better to just volunteer on my own and not pay the money to register for these awards?</p>

<p>I have never heard of these organizations, but I would avoid any situation where you are paying money for an award or to be part of an honors group. Most service organizations will recognize you free of charge.</p>
