Can someone pleas explain to me the three different essays on the English Language?

My teacher has not taught me any of the three essays this entire year? Could you just explain briefly how to write each essay and the main points of each? Thank you.

You will have the rhetorical analysis, the argument, and the synthesis.

Argument is self-explanatory, while the synthesis is like the DBQ from the AP World History, US History, and European History.

In rhetorical analysis, you are examining the smaller parts of a writer’s work and explaining how they contribute to the effect he/she makes on his/her audience. For example, are there emphatic sentences, figurative language…? It’s similar to watching a movie and noticing why the director chooses to direct one scene in which the camera angle is slanted. For example, in a horror movie, it may help to create an unsettling atmosphere. My AP English Language teacher says that the rhetorical analysis is the hardest, but also the shortest essay you will write out of the three.

For the analysis, note these things:

Is what the author doing effective? Is he/she good at it?
Why does the author choose his techniques?
What is the author’s audience?

The analysis is NOT:

A summary of what the author is saying.

Practice helps.

P.S. For the argument, you should either accept, refute, or qualify the writer’s argument.

For the rhetorical analysis should one use specific literary terms?

^Yeah, that’s basically the foundation for your rhetorical analysis.

Yeah, but don’t list term after term, choose a few that apply and discuss them in detail, citing examples and using direct quotations. In other words, analyze it.

sounds good, thanks
