Can someone please calculate my UC GPA

10th
English - B/A
Alg. II - A/B
Honors Chem - B/A
World History - A/A
Spanish II - C/B
Art 1 -A

11th
English - A/A
AP Stat. - A/A
AP Chem. - A/A
Pre Calc - A/A
Economics - A/A
Spanish III - A/A

have more classes but they dont meet the a-g courses

If I'm correct it's 4.0. Just add up all the semesters, 4.0 for As, 3.0 for Bs, 2.0 for Cs if it's a regular class; 5.0 for As, 4.0 for Bs, 3.0 for Cs if it's an honors/AP class. Then divide by the number of semesters you have. Don't worry about the 8 semester capped because you only have 6 semesters.

thanks

btw where does a 4.0 UC GPA stand on the scale?
bad, good?

Well, the maximum capped GPA is 4.5. Depending on the schools you're looking at, this GPA can mean different things. For the less competitive UCs (UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, maybe Davis ...), a 4.0 is pretty good provided that you also have extracurricular activities. For the more competitive ones (UC San Diego, UCLA, UC Berkeley), a 4.0 is no guarantee of getting into these schools. I'm not sure about UC San Diego, but UCLA and Berkeley can be very random. I read an article on LA Times that argued about the controversial admission of Berkeley, of how they admitted students with low GPA and especially SAT. Make sure you have something unique to say on your personal statement if you're aiming at UCLA and/or Berkeley.

Below UCLA's average. However, it is still quite competitive if all the other factors are great.
