Next year im takin: AP Bio or AP chem, AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, College Anatomy and Physiology

Im taking NYU precollege over the summer and going to take either one or 2 courses probably biology.

Extracurriculars: Interact club, equality club, going to try to start an MLK club, i did 60 hours volunteering at a religion camp, 150 hours volunteering/interning at a physical therapy clinic, currently shadowing a doctor and going to have 150+ by the time i apply, tutoring middle schoolers going to have 80+ by the time i apply, I work at my dad's store many hours a week, and I am going to start volunteering at another clinic hopefully if they accept me, did cross country freshman and sophomore year, I also go to the gym a lot (i dont know if this would count)

Awards/ Honors: going to be in the honor society next year, won a religion contest in my temple, which required us to read a textbook and take a test on it. i had received first place and won a 42 inch TV

My guidance counselors knows my drive and is going to give me an excellent recommendation letter, my physics teacher will give me an amazing one, the doctor i am currently shadowing will also write me one, and I will try to get the biology professor at NYU precollege to write me one.

I am taking the SAT in March and hoping to get 2000+
I am going to try and get a high score in SAT 2s for Math, bio, and maybe chem.
I also might self-study for Physics AP exam

Will NYU care a lot about the 79 in chemistry?
Does NYU precollege have chemistry as a course?
If I dont make NYU I will apply to Stony Brook. How are my chances for stony??

NYU- match if you get 2000+. Although the school has gotten really selective recently.
Stony Brook- safety

NYU: Match (high match if deferred)
Stony Brook: Safety

NYU is extremely expensive… are you sure you can afford to go to med school after going to NYU?

I was hoping to get some financial aid from nyu.

But is there a high chance of me getting rejected? I’m really nervous

You need a 2100 Sat. Study hard … get accepted and then -“Start spreading the news” (Sinatra-NY, NY).

is the minimum i would need to get in?

Not a minimum or maximum, but a high enoughscore to give you a real good shot.

No, you don’t need a 2100. Why do people assume NYU is SO hard to get in to? It’s not.

NYU: High match

I think you have a chance…but the hard part is not getting accepted, it’s paying for NYU. Their aid is not very generous. If I was going to med school, I’d want to minimize my student debt. Just keep that in mind!

Well i hope NYU is worth it. I heard it is easier to get in to their med school is you do undergraduate there. Also i will try to pay off the loans during my residency period.

NYU has poor FA so applying ED to NYU, while it could help getting in, can get you in a financial world of hurt, even if you paid off the loans during residency.

If you want premed, go to stony or hunter to save money. NYU is not a place for you for premed. Their FA is not enough to cover your expenses. And no its not true that if you go to NYU , it’s good for med schools. Stonybrook has a really really good pre med and is better than NYU for pre med.
I know people who graduated from NYU with over 100,000 in debt. Don’t let that happen to you. So be careful.

AGP: I think you’re confusing popularity for selectivity. NYU is a top 35 university. A 2100 sat is no better than average score. The applicant pool is comparitively small but talented.

I heard CAS is much easier to get in to tho. Also I heard that people who graduate from NYU premed have an easier time getting in to NYU medical school.

Oh NYU medical school. Yeah if you do well. But you can get into NYU medical school no matter where you went for undergrad as long you have a high GPA and MCAT score so yeah.

Oh alright. I also wanted to do premed in the city so i be far enough to dorm.

NYU is my dream school and my parents own a business which might soon be good enough to pay for it. If money is not a concern, do you think my stats are good enough for NYU?

Yes you do have a pretty decent chance of getting in  but it’s not 100% certain you will be admitted. just make sure you have a safety school just incase.

alright great. Can you also chance me for Columbia University? I know thats a reach but how much of one?
