can someone please chance me for UCLA?

i am currently a junior (will be a senior next fall) in northern california. i'm a filipino female who moved to california 2nd quarter of my sophomore year. i plan on majoring in biology and becoming either a pediatrician or dermatologist.

freshman year i attended school in illinois. i had 3 honors classes: bio, geometry, and english. i got B's both semesters in bio and geometry and therefore 4 B's total. there were 2 other honors bio teachers--all of their students got A's. most of my teacher's students got C's and below.. my GPA was around 4.65.
extracurriculars: at the end of the year i got a leadership award in choir.

sophomore year i entered my current high school, which does not have honors classes, nor does it recognize my honors classes from my old school to get the extra point when it comes to weighted GPA (therefore my 5.0 from freshman honors english and 4.0s from bio and geometry are only 4.0 and 3.0s, respectively.) i got A's in all of my classes--world history, 2 choirs, chemistry, english, and whatnot--so i had a 4.0 GPA.
extracurriculars: -CSF (member)
-NHS (member)
-a member of my school's a'cappella choir and women's ensemble
awards: won my school's first American Idol-like singing competition.

junior year, i was in 3 AP classes: lit, us history, and chemistry. i had A's in both english and us history, but a B in AP chem. (this is the first year my teacher taught this class... we started off with 28 students and now we only have 9. lol.) i got straight A's in all of my other classes. PSAT: 1820. i took the SAT back in january and didn't study--i got 1780 -_- (reading was surprisingly my lowest score, thanks to those vocab words... i retook it last week but i plan on taking it again in october.) my GPA for all of junior year was a 4.3.
extracurriculars: i was a member of my school's top 2 choirs: select singers and women's ensemble.
-CSF
-NHS
-Asian club
-constitution club
-HOSA (future healthcare professionals)
-female lead in school's first musical
awards: ALA girls' state nominee

senior year i plan on taking 4 AP classes: language & composition, calculus ab, psychology, and biology. i will also be taking anatomy & physiology, 2 choirs, and a semester of health, which leaves me with a semester of an unscheduled period. i will be taking the ACT in september.
extracurriculars: NHS (secretary, elections happened 2 months ago)
-CSF (president, elections were last week)
-choir (will be running for VP the first week of school)
-asian
-constitution
-healthcare academy
-STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) academy
-theatre
-i plan on auditioning for my school's fall play

my other extracurriculars include piano (took lessons for 2 years, now i teach myself), guitar (self-taught), ukulele (self-taught), and voice (lessons for 4 years). if you couldn't tell, i really love music. singing is my biggest passion. i have volunteered at a food bank and i face paint at hospital events.

my personal statements will most likely be about 1) my Asian upbringing and how witnessing the ridicule my parents have been put through thanks to discrimination has taught me to stand up for myself and seize every opportunity that comes my way OR how moving to a brand new state has molded me into an entirely different person 2) how singing has given me a new-found confidence and has brought me out of my shell.

also, i have another question: most of my peers will only be taking 4 or 5 classes--these classes will only be AP classes... they're only doing this for the GPA boost... will this increase their chances of getting into a top-tier UC over me? my teachers have said that since all of my periods will be full next year, i should have a better chance of getting in--since i will be doing more work than my classmates with 4 classes.. but i don't know... i need clarification.

thank you! i'm sorry this is so long.

also! my SAT scores
reading: 550
math: 590
writing: 640
essay: 9

yeah. i really hate myself for not studying.

low sat scores, and really, i doubt that they read other parts of your application after seeing a score below 2000, take it again and aim for 2100+, 2200+will be quite safe

UCLA is a very interesting school especially when it comes to admittance. I know a person who received around the same SAT score as yours and got in, while I know another person who scored 2300+ SAT but got rejected (He had plenty of extracurriculars as well). Honestly, I think all these admittance also depend on which high school you attend. If you attend a really competitive high school (academic wise), you probably don’t stand a chance with that score. But if you attend a little more “ghetto” school, and your rank is pretty high, you probably have a good chance. But in the long run, just to be safe, I strongly recommend you to retake the SAT and maybe even try the ACT. SAT subject tests will definitely enhance your application status as well. Your GPA and your classes sound pretty good, along with your extracurriculars. Do some practice personal essays on your own over the summer. Those make a big difference as well.

@MyGoodLord: my class rank for 9-12th GPAs is 24/650, while 10th-12th is 15. my school is the lowest performing in my district… not saying that it’s a “bad” school; there are students that will definitely go on to do great things, but there are just so many lazy, underachieving students that they outweigh the good. a lot of people choose not to attend my school because of our “okay” test scores compared to the other 2 schools that have exceeded expectations. so i guess that helps me in the long run?

my SAT is actually the third highest of my classmates from what i’ve accumulated. my friend, whose ranked #1, recieved a 2100. the person that is ranked one higher than me got a 1560. i will be retaking the SAT along with the ACT, and possibly 1 or 2 subject tests.

thank you for your input!
