+anyone recieve below a 2000 on sat or below a 30 on act and accepted to columbia or any other ivy?
THANKS!!!

You are in excellent shape! I’d try for above a 2100 on your SAT (it won’t be that hard to do given your academics) and I’d try to get better than a 33 on the ACT, but remember, if you don’t do well on one of them you don’t have to send it in! I recommend taking the ACT first because if you do well you don’t need to take the SAT because when you send your SAT II scores some colleges require you send all of your College Board scores

Alrighty!! (: Thanks guys!! So I should take the ACT first, then the SAT. Which is more difficult??? I really want to get a good score, and I am hoping for >30 and >2100; hope it’s possible because it doesn’t seem that way. lol.

Trust me, it’s very possible! I did better on my SAT (2180) than I did on the ACT, but I recommend taking the ACT first. My cousin who is going to Columbia in the fall recommended that to me because she got something insane like a 35 on her ACT and only got a 2110 on her SAT. When she was applying to colleges it turned out she had to send all of her scores to some of the schools and it hurt her chances of getting into Yale.

Wow, thant sucks for your cousin. But she did awesome on her scores anyway!! (: Wait, so I have to send both the ACT and SAT to most school!?!? BTW, what was your ACT score (because your SAT pretty much rocks!! I am just hoping to reach in the 2100’s)?

I go to Northwestern, and a 30 is pretty below average. There were a lot of students with 35’s and 36’s who got straight-out rejected. Considering your EC’s, are you by chance Hispanic. If so, that would increase your chances dramatically. I know of African Americans who got 26’s on their ACT who got accepted into Northwestern. It’s not really fair, but colleges strive for “diversity.”

mathmaniac11, I am hispanic. So you think a 30 is below average from the typical schools I apply to?? I am really striving for acceptance to Yale, and your post really worries me about being accepted… Thanks. I just hope I do good on my tests…
