what's the deal with the SAT IIs?

I can't say that I'm any expert or anything, but thee schools are all low-matches or safeties in my opinion. True your GPA is a tad low, but a 33 on the ACTs is too good to ignore. You could definitly aim higher.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to where I could possibly aim?

SAT II wise: I'd love to take the bio or french exam but I have a feeling I'd score low..I kinda fear them..weird reason but it's true.

I think you should add a couple reaches and drop a safety. You have a great upward trend in your grades, and colleges will like that. Your ACT is a very competitive score as well.

What would be some possible reaches?

Bump please.

i had a pre-med track in mind as well (but i also might do a number of things)
so here's some reach-match schools from my list that are on the small to medium range and have an LAC feel (we have similar scores, but i have a 4.0 UW)

pomona (my top choice)
rice
brown (the somewhat exception)

you might like amherst, swarthmore, williams, bowdoin, etc.

Despite how you feel you'll do, I think you could increase the schools you could apply to by simply taking the SAT IIs

you should look at schools that don't look at freshman year. this includes the UCs, UMich, among others i believe.

UCs are ridiculous to get into out of state.

I agree...aren't most UCs obsessed with GPA? and nothing else?

I'd love to go to one of those LACs..but honestly I don't have a shot at all.

IMO, as long as you score above 600 on the SAT II's, it won't affect your chances at any of the schools you are looking at. What have you got to lose?

Nothing I guess...I guess it's worth a shot.

Answering an earlier question:

For admission, St. Louis University does not care if you are Catholic or not. They might even like adding a few more non-Catholics for diversity.

There is no problem with practicing any religion or no religion at St. Louis University. My understanding is that as a whole, the atmosphere is not particularly religious. If you were really going to go there, you'd visit and feel the ambience, right? So you don't have to take my word for it.

I think that St. Louis University admits 78% of applicants. With a 33 ACT (which is in the top 1% of ACT takers!), you'd be a superstar there.

Dear SHS Spartan:

Being from Washington State, Whitman College, University of Washington, and Washington State are fine picks. But why the others? How did you manage to put them in your basket?

Have you also looked at Willamette University, Gonzaga University and Pacific Lutheran University? These are great schools and they match your scoring profile. These are also within your driving range so that you may visit them in finding whether or not it is a good fit for you personally.

Go for it!

Narrow your list down to no more than 10 and file.
The above schools will suit you better than you understand.

Best wishes.
