Can Someone Please Explain???

Just spoke w/someone in GW Admissions Office regarding percentage of applicants admitted EDI or II. The person said that the percentage of applicants admitted via Regular Decision or EDI or II is EXACTLY the same-- around 38%.

What gives? I have read, both here and elsewhere, that the percentage of admitted students via EDI or II is somewhere around 55-60%.

Does anyone know the real scoop regarding EDI or II? Son is a junior in high school and very interested in applying EDI as he thinks that will give him his best shot (700M,610CR,530W).

Anyone out there know the real numbers? Thanks!!!

No idea of the real numbers, but very often the acceptance percentages are combined (and the person you spoke to may not have known this).....If 38% is the number she gave you though, you can almost extrapolate the ED acceptance rate if you know how many applied ED and what % of the class GW normally accepts ED....Let me know if I have confused you.....

For example, if GW normally takes 30% of the class ED (I have no idea the size of the freshman class), but lets say that is 600 for arguments sake.....If you can find out from the CDS how many applied ED last year, you can get an approximate ED acceptance rate.

Thanks Rodney and yes, you have thoroughly confused me! Unfortunately, on GW's CDS, they do not give the ED statistics -- have no idea why.

It just seems that from everything I've read that applying ED gives the applicant a significant boost but from what the Admissions Office employee said today, that appears not to be the case.

I will try to figure out the percentages somehow -- thanks very much for your input!

Anyone else out there have any thoughts??

I think and my son has been told its higher than reg. decision, maybe this year was an exception because of the rediculously high number of apps. received. I really dont' think ED is also 38% though I won't bet on it...my guess its at least a full 7-10% higher than reg. decision, so I would highly suggest he apply ED as it will give him an edge...good luck!
