Hi, I will be taking the SATs for the 1st time this Saturday. If anyone could please grade this essay and give advice, it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

Prompt: Should people make more of an effort to keep things private?

Privacy nowadays is very rare and misunderstood. Our culture has become too confessional; everyone is expected to express every impulse too remain "honest." However, in reality, privacy is very important and people should make more of an effort to keep some things private. The extreme need for privacy is depicted very clearly in the examples of Ajab Kaseeb, a hotel hotel in Rwanda during the Rwanda massacre, and realit TV shows like Jersey Shore.

Ajab Kaseeb was a hotel owner in Rwanda during the 1900s. During this time period, Twanda was experiencing a brutal civil war. Rwanda was split into two warring factions: the Tuttis and the Kumbis, and the Tuttis were being massacred mercilessly. Even though Ajab was a Kumbi, he valued all lives and secretly sheltered Tutti refugees in his hotel. In order to keep the Tutti refugees safe from harm, Ajab had to keep his involvement in sheltering Tutti refugees private. This shows that some plans should be kept private because they may not work if everyone knows about it. By secretly sheltering Tutti refugees, Ajab was ultimately able to save hundreds of lives.

Society has become a lot more divulging; people often feel the need to divulge every moment of their life. To make matters worse, if one turns on the TV, their are hundreds of reality TV shows to choose from: from Keeping Up with the Kardashians to Jersey Shore. Reality TV shows attempt to divulge every moment of a celebrity's life as an attempt to garner more publicity. Not only are these reality shows overly confessional but also they are bad influences on young children, since these shows often have degrading views of women and make children believe that it is okay to party and get drunk all the time. The lives of people in reality TV shows should be kept more private, since America does not need to know everything about these people.

In all, people should indeed make more of an effort to keep some things private. As shown through the examples of Ajab Kaseeb and reality TV shows, people often divulge too much unnecessary information and keeping more things private can even lead to bigger achievements. As Steven Macharsky once said, " The key to success is dedication and understanding that you should not divulge everything."
