Can someone tell me what they think of my RN applicant essay?

I would like to be able to say the path that has led me to where I am today has been an easy one, but unfortunately, like many others, I have been faced with many struggles along the way. From dealing with a diabetic father as well as other chronically ill family members, having a brain tumor removed at a young age, to helping my mother raise my younger siblings and working for what I wanted, one thing was always clear to me. I wanted to grow up and help others to show my appreciation for what I had been helped through and experienced in life.
Growing up with a variety of illnesses and diseases in my family, we spent a lot of our time in and out of doctor’s offices and hospitals. Not always the best places to brighten your days. The medical staff was always beyond friendly and of course as helpful as possible to us, but the ones that always stood out the most to me were the nurses. They were the most caring, personable, and devoted people I have honestly ever been surrounded with. The way they were able to console me and my family during such difficult times was truly inspiring. It is because of these wonderful individuals that have made such an impact on my life that I have decided to pursue a degree and lifelong career as a Registered Nurse.
I understand nursing is a very challenging and demanding career; however I feel the reward of helping others and knowing I can make a difference makes me eager to embark on such a rewarding journey. It may have taken me longer than I would have hoped to take the necessary steps to pursing my career, but sometimes things in life don’t always happen the way you envisioned them. I believe that as long as you get back on track and purse your goals and dreams that is what truly matters. I have no doubt that I have everything it takes to not only be successful, but be the best I possibly can at being a Registered Nurse. Knowing the hardships and dilemmas I have had put in front of me to push through, not only is this the most important accomplishment in my life, it is the one I am most proud of. I am nothing less than sure that I can handle anything I put my mind to.
I think we all know that becoming a nurse just isn’t for anyone. I believe it takes a special kind of person that has a true passion for the field. I have fortunately been blessed with multiple successful nurses in my family, allowing me to see and hear first hand, what it is that separates them from other medical professions. It takes a sincerely devoted, passionate, and caring individual to handle the everyday tasks put forth a Registered Nurse. It takes someone strong enough to put sometimes hurting patients, families, and their friends at ease during some of their most difficult times, and embrace their happiness during their most joyful times. It is for those reasons among others; I know becoming a Registered Nurse is the right path for me.
I have spent the past ten years of my life working various jobs that involve caring for others. Whether it has been leading summer camps, volunteering at retirement homes, babysitting, or working in childcare centers, it has never been enough for me. I feel after years of hard work and determination, I could not be more ready and eager to begin the most fulfilling and rewarding future as a Registered Nurse.
