Can someone tell me whats wrong with me

I am dumbfounded, and confused on w t f is wrong.
Ive been rejected by ucd, ucsd, and ucsb so far.

SAT: 2030 (750 math, 680 writing, 600 reading)

SATII: 710 math IIc, 720 Biology E

3.54 Uc Gpa

over 200 hours of community service , more than half done at local hospital.

i am asian, and applied for biology major.

someone talk to me....please.

Did you apply to UCI, UCSC and Cal Poly SLO?

same... but lower stats for me

sooo lame.. cmon irvine!

yeah i also applied to uci. no state colleges applied. i didnt apply to ucsc

i dont know what to say. i had a 4.3, but a 1950 sat with only adequate extracurriculars. my subject tests were also in 600's. the only thing i can think of is that i live in san diego so that may give me some obscure advantage. im also ELC, which gives ppl a huge advantage as well.

where else did u apply?

oh yeah...5 ap classes and 8 honors. received 5's on both ap tests i took...
if i end up gonig to community college...whats the point of taking all these hard classes in high school? whats the point of even taking sats??

yea ive really got my heart set on UCLA. it really does suck that we go through 4 years of testing and homework only to get rejected by someone we've never met. if i don't get into UCLA i have decided to give the military a serious consideration simply because it's another interest of mine.

i'm convinced its a game of chance

Your 3.54 GPA is significantly lower than the average for UCD/UCSB/UCI, which have an accepted average of about 3.9 and an enrolled student average of about 3.75. And honestly, even though you took 5 APs and 8 honors, if you still got a 3.54 after all those bonus points, you were probably getting a lot of C's, which doesn't look good. Good luck with UCI though!

thanks imblue

the Cs that i received were in French 2 and 3. Not to exccuse myslef, but english is my second language, french is my third...

I don't see why you're so shocked. Your GPA is sub-par for all those schools Sorry, I'm honestly not trying to sound *****y with that.

thanks for the input srabiee.

There are LAC's and rolling admissions colleges that would love you as a biology major and are still taking applications. UCSB does not appreciate you but you can find a college that does.

I forgot to mention that if you're rejected from all your UC's (even if you only applied to Berkeley, let's say), they'll offer you admission to either UC Riverside or UC Merced, which accept all UC eligible applicants. So don't worry about not getting in anywhere.

^ I don't think that was reassuring... haha.

Indeed your gpa is a bit low but it seems like your SAT score would make up for it. Average freshman admitted in UCSB this year had a 3.7 gpa and a 1777 SAT. Good luck at your other schools.

thanks everyone for their replies i feel much better now. =)

In addition to what everybody else said, maybe you should think about appealing too. Honestly I think you should have gotten into one of those schools at least. .. just bad luck I guess. Oh well, best of luck for the future!

By the way, I enjoy reading your posts when you use odd slang terms. You know what I'm talking about right? It's quite entertaining.

The thing is, appeals are only considered when you have significant new information that wasn't available or reported at the time of application. They won't care that you "should have" gotten in.
