Can Someone Tell Us About Their Experience During Ci?

We are going on Friday to CI, what can we expect? Is there anything for the parents to do/are we expected to stay? We were planning on bringing him Friday night leaving Sat. when it starts and he is flying home on Monday. What did they do for the 3 days? I have heard it was a blast...where do you check in,etc............thanks in advance for sharing.

We aren't going until July, but this site has tentative schedules for students, parents, and siblings. Colonial Inauguration 2008

Went to CI last year. It was kind of over the top. A bit glitzy and too much.

Thanks..that defenitely helped to give us a better idea. I was under the impression that this is more for the students and less for the parents. Does anyone know this for sure? We were going to stay part of the first day and then come home, do you have any input on this as to what most parents do?
Thanks!

We're going to CI this weekend, but we're staying for the weekend and had to register for it the same time S did (and pay for it as well). After driving all that way, we weren't prepared to just turn around and drive home. I'm not sure what's available for parents who haven't registered. You might want to call or email CI to be sure.

We will go this weekend two, both parents and one sibling! Fully registered. My 16 year old is quite nervous about whether there will be other kids in the sibling program her age that she wants to hang with... the activities (spy museum, zoo) are things she has already done on other trips and seem targetted for a younger crowd. We promised her she can just hang in the hotel if it isn't for her.

I e-mailed them about the sibling part, and was told most of the kids are in the 13-17 age group.

ctmomof3 - CI is absolutely geared towards families, with separate sessions, etc, just for the parents. The kids stay in the dorms and meet other kids, the parents have a whole program of their own as do the future students and siblings. I heard they were going to tone it down a little this year - who knows? It seemed to me that the whole thing could have been done in less time, but, lots of people loved it and apparently it is supposed to have garnished all sorts of awards as the best orientation program at any college.
You may enjoy it. You may not. BUT, parents are definitely there.
