Can *Special Something* get me into Duke????

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I have average stats and take a very rigorous load of courses (6 APs including Calc & Physics C). ACT = 34, 35 superscore. my gpa is about a 3.7 UW (but with strong upward trend). I have a ton of ECs and leadership in most of them. I have won several awards and championships in different events. i applied ED to duke engineering. but that special something - i have designed and engineering a product that i have patented, and i sent duke a prototype. how much will this help me???</p>

<p>I have no knowledge regarding engineering programs at colleges but it seems like that would definitely give you a boost if the prototype is innovative and functioning properly.</p>
