Can’t Sleep at Night.... SMU v. UNC

i didnt even plan on applying to smu until this year and considered is a big safety. i said id only consider if i got into the honors program and got the practically full ride as a hunt scholar. well i got both and now im stuck between smu and unc chapel hill (out of state)

but i dont know how to differentiate the two:
financially it would be the same because unc is giving me a lot of aid BUT its not a prestigious scholarship like the one from smu

unc is 17th in the country for what i want to do and smu is 18th

the weather and social scene is practically the same

however smu offers me a lot of job opportunities as a student who is being given special attention because im one of twenty kids. dallas is also a very prosperous city, one that i could see myself living and working in after i graduate

so big fish in the little bowl (smu) or little fish in the sea (unc)?... or maybe i should just go to cornell ilr lol jkk

my question is.. is smu well known enough globally yet? i want to do international business or a similar double major. is smu a good enough platform for stanford or an ivy league law school?

go to UNC for anywhere else. Have you visited both schools? SMU doesn’t exactly have a reputation for academics-here in TX, it’s known as a big party school for rich kids (emphasis on the rich). Academically, SMU’s not on the same league as UNC. Remember too that you might change majors.

Regarding grad. school, you’re asking the wrong question. If you get a high gpa in a fairly rigorous major, do well on your LSATs, get good letters of rec., write a strong personal statement, and have decent ECs, you’ll do well in the law school application process.

In this case, which school you attend is largely irrelevant-what matters is where you will flourish.
