Can taking a year off to travel before Uni alter my chances of getting in a Good Uni?

I am a Graduationg Cegep Student in Quebec, Canada, and I want to apply to some Good Universities in the States because of my average (93 percent). I missed the deadlines for next fall semester because I am thinking of travelling for a year to learn more languages and to think about what my program of study should be.
I will then take the time to apply.
I am a very implicated student, student council, choir, musicals, act in Theatre Festivals, Volunteer plenty, Organize the Variety Show, working part-time, etc. I have grades in the 90s and I speak three languages fluently, I play two instruments, I am open-minded and motivated.
I'm sorry for laying this all out but I want to know If I would have chances in a Good University to study Arts and if a year off school would affect my applications.

Is it better to wait and try rather than to get in the local University where the Arts program is very small and lame ? :S
Thanks!

It certainly would not hurt to take a gap year. As long as you make something of it. Seems like you enjoy the arts, so do something that perhaps furthers this interest. You could travel and practice other forms of art in the world, etc.

Where are you studying? Do you think I would have some chances of getting in a good University in the States? I didn't do the SAT test yet; but English would be as a second language :) so it would probably be ok. Is 93-94% average considered good enough for Ivy league in the states?
