I just got in to NYU's presidential honors program with a really nice scholarship, but I was wondering can they drop you from that program into the regular program before you even begin if you are doing really badly? I'm really worried because I think I might be getting a C in AP Stats for the final year grade now, and on my transcript I had an A in it. NYU is my top school but there is no way I can go without the money they gave me for being in the program. I'm really worried. Plus my other grades have all fallen a little bit (not as far, but like A- to B+).

Based on other posts I’ve read, a C isn’t too bad, and B’s are definitely fine. I highly doubt they’d rescind you because of one C. But you could call…?

And I got a Deans Scholar thing (not sure if that’s the same deal or not), but how are such merit scholarships added on top of your EFC?

Like, if your EFC is $20,000 and you get a $25,000 scholarship, what happens? Is it deducted from loans? Do you still have to take out loans to pay your $20,000? Does not compute X_X

Thats what I got too, the D.E.A.N. thing. I was wondering about that though, do we still get financial aid on top of the $25,000? They probably take that into account though, so if the total cost is close to $50,000 they’ll still have you pay the other $20,000.

Just as long as they don’t take away the money for my few crappy last term grades I’m happy. I’m so excited, I really wanted to go to NYU, but I never imagined I’d be able to because they’re known for not giving out a lot of money.

That’s lame, lol. My parents can help $5,000 and I got $3500 for my first year in outside scholarships… so that leaves $11,500… blah. Bailout! haha.

Yea, its not too bad though considering.

Does anyone else know about being kicked out of the DEAN program though before even arriving? I’m not worried about having the entire acceptance resinded, but I am a little nervous about having the scholarship taken away. Especially because right now I am (pathetically) hoping for a C. Arrr. Stupid stats. Maybe they won’t care so much about math?

Sorry, I know I’m kind of a worrywart lol
