My sister attends Barnard, do you think that this overall helps? I mean she has is a 4.0 student.

Yep, it def helps a little. It will ask you on the app whether any people in your family have attended the school. Its not enough to get you in if you are not a competitive applicant on your own/without the connections, but its good for giving you a little edge/boost among other applicants.

I know a friend who had a sister who went to Barnard when she had applied, but had a little lower stats/extracurriculars and got in. I believe it def helped a little with her acceptance. Though, whether she would have gotten in without her sis, I don't think anyone will ever know.

I'm sure they don't accept all applicants who have legacies/relatives/staff at the school though. My friend (the same one I was talking about earlier) was an average BUT competitive applicant, but wasn't a shoo-in at Barnard (then again, no one really is lol), its just that the combination of her sister attending the school and the fact that she applied early decision gave her major brownie points/little boost with the admissions committee.

Good luck!

Thanks orange 41!
