Can This Kill My Application?

Note: This may belong in the "My Chances" Forum

Right now my application isn't looking so hot to high-calibre schools. I do have about a 3.9 as a junior (averaging a 3.95 this year, but slacked sophmore year), and so far I've taken 5 A.P. classes including this year, along with an honors math class every year. I also had 2 years of JV soccer and what will be 2 years of NHS. While not the best App, I think it is decent, until...my ACT score. I don't know why, but I can't get past a 30. UGH! I just bugs me so much. On seperate tests I have scores as high as 33 and 34 (superscore would be a 33).
Do you think that my app to such schools as Vanderbilt and possibly Northwestern (even maybe MIT, I hear they superscore) is badly hurt by my score?
What do you think I could do to improve it?

Give the SAT a whirl.

Yeah, my counselor told me that about 1/3 people do better on the SAT than the ACT. Hopefully I’m on of those thirds…
