can trinity student take courses in pratt?

can trinity student take courses in pratt?

i am an upcoming trinity student, and would like to take a course in biomedical engineering...is it possible?
and to further my question, is it actually to double major, one in trinity (say economics) and one in pratts (say bme)?

thanks a lot!

I believe you only double major in Trinity and Pratt if you transfer into Pratt. I also think you are allowed to take engineering classes without being enrolled, but I don't think you can double major, without Pratt being your primary major.

I'm not entirely sure, but fairly.

The only BME course offered to freshmen is BME 8 which is in the spring. To take this class you have to take EGR 53 in the fall. If you think you want to transfer to Pratt than you also need to take math and chem.

Yes. I have a Pratt major and a Trinity major, but I'm only allowed to do so because I'm a Pratt student first. I meet the general education requirements for Pratt and have an advisor in Pratt regardless of the Trinity major.

Generally you need to meet the prereqs to take any given engineering class, but if there is one particular class that you really want to take and you have the background for it, its probably possible for you to take it on some special basis if you talk to the professor (even if its just sitting in on the class and auditing).

If you just want to get a sense for what BME would be like I would recommend looking into the half-credit EGR10 seminar, which gives a brief exposure to all disciplines in Pratt.

well said, joe meyerozwitz.

i have actually had a couple of trinity students in my engineering classes, and i was a TA for a senior Econ major taking the intro Electrical Engineering course (he dropped it half way through haha).

basically, you can do it provided you have met the prerecs.
