Hey, i’m a prospective international student and am wondering whether undergraduate students are qualified to hold Teaching Assistants or Assistant Instructors positions? And by holding these positions, will I be eligible for resident tuition entitlement?
Thanks.
May I know to which question are you answering? I’m asking because I seen stated on the website as well as former students claiming so.
There are work study jobs where you might answer the phone or work in a lab, but you can’t be a TA as far as I know. And there’s no way they would give you in-state tuition. Provide a link where you saw otherwise.
And of course, the best thing to do would be to call the school directly.
Well I saw it here: http://catalog.utexas.edu/general-information/registration-tuition-and-fees/tuition-and-fees/tuition-waivers/
It did not specify if you must be an undergraduate student or graduate student so I had to ask on here.
It states, “Graduate School applicants may indicate interest in a teaching or research assistantship when they apply for admission.”
Can confirm - TA and AI positions are only for grad students and typically included in funding packages. Undergrads can get jobs proctoring classes or grading papers, but nothing that will qualify you for tuition waivers
