Can university students take AP exams?

Hello.
I was just wondering if university students could take AP exams while they are enrolled in 1st or 2nd year of university and still receive college credit for those courses.
In high school, I took some AP classes but I didn't take AP exams, because I missed deadlines for paying AP exam fees.
Now, in university, I'm a freshman taking some 1st year university courses taken as AP courses in high school.
I never intended on repeating same AP courses in university.
My university (in Canada) accepts 4~5 AP scores as college credit, but I'm doubtful whether it accepts AP marks earned by university students (not just by high school students entering university from high school).
If anyone knows the answer to this, please tell me.
Thank you.

I searched for threads under the same topic as mine, but the replies in those threads weren't satisfactory. Some people say college students can take AP test, while others say they can't. Please reply if you are 100% sure and have a solid evidence to prove your answer is true. By the way, I just visited college board website and viewed a certain kind of AP test statistics report, which showed how many number of AP test takers were 9th graders, 10th graders, and so on. One of the categories, along with high school graders, is "non-high school students." This would perhaps indicate that college students can take AP exams, too, though the non-high school students category might also include people other than high school or college students. Again, please reply if you know the truth, not just anything you heard from other people.

I have the same question. I will call collegeboard tomorrow but would appreciate it if someone who knows the answer can post. The employees at CB might also be unsure (you know how poorly trained phone reps are in general. This question may be over their heads.)
