Can we bring a rice cooker?

topic (10 char)

no you cant, they allow coffee pots but not rice cookers...strange
i wanted to bring a hot water dispenser but those aren't allowed either
or unless you have a super lenient RA that doesn't care

this is an outrage! lol Omg i was going to bring organic brown rice too :(

im pretty sure pots and pans are allowed though ya? Are there kitchens with stoves? (im going to b in kearney)

really? we're not allowed to bring a rice cooker? dang.
I thought it'd be okay...=(

what? no rice cooker? who told you that?

The dorms have community kitchens you can use.

My roommate and I had a rice cooker and a hot water dispenser in our room. The fire alarm never rang, and I'm sure it won't as long as you're not cooking directly underneath it. If you're paranoid about setting the alarm off, cook close to an open window or something. My RA warned us about not having them, but she either never noticed or didn't care. If your RA's strict about it, you could probably just stash it in your closet or whatever when they come by.

its like the rice cookers are illegal drugs lol stash the goods!

i guess it really depends on your RA then
but i really wanna bring a hot water dispenser
i hate microwaving water...
can't live w/out asn food!

Or just not live in the dorms...lol WWCJHD?

Do they allow electric kettles in the dorms? Is it okay to bring the one that is 1500 watt and has auto shut-off?

Pretty much everyone had a rice cooker in my dorm (Pierce J). One girl even had her rice cooker directly beneath the fire alarm (and it never went off)...

But I always would put my rice cooker by my window and would turn my fan on to blow all the steam outside (just in case..). But my RAs never cared.

rice cooker can set off the smoke alarm!?

The smoke alarms are -supposed- to be really sensitive...

Ummm... smoke alarms detect carbon monoxide, not steam/water.

LOL...
The ignorant got tricked by the rice cooker haters.
