I got into UNC early admissions and I want to change an honors physics class to just a normal (non Honors or AP) elective class.

I remember reading somewhere on how you have to send them a new letter/schedule notifying them about your change and if they don't like it...it can affect your admission status.

My classes current second semester classes are:

Honors Physics (but I want to change it), AP Biology, AP Psych and Concert Band...so it's not like I'm exactly slacking off

Long story short...can I change my schedule? Is there really a possibility that they'll change their mind about my admission status? And would I actually have to send them something?

Anyone know?

You need to run it by Admissions. Technically, it does crack the door open for a change in your decision. (Not saying I think they would do it; just that they could.)

I'm a freshman this year. I switched out of spanish 3 that second semester and it didn't do anything. I just called the admissions office and had them look over my stuff and they told me. I would just call them and tell them what you want to switch into.

UNC ran this notice in my school's daily announcements. I'd be careful and provide a rationale or some extenuating circumstances if you can.

Below is an alert from the UNC-Chapel Hill Admissions Office concerning schedule changes. Important Note About Schedule Changes: Students who set high academic goals for themselves and perform well in challenging coursework are more prepared for the rigor of college. As we review applications, we pay close attention to the strength of each candidate’s course of study. Since our decisions are made conditionally upon the completion of the course schedule submitted by each applicant, a change may affect an individual admissions decision. For this reason, we require all admitted students, deferred students, and regular notification applicants to notify us in writing or through email at uncreply@admissions.unc.edu if they are considering a schedule change. The correspondence should include the current schedule, proposed new schedule, and reason for requesting the change. Requests will be reviewed by the admissions committee, and the student will receive a response in a timely manner. We strongly recommend that admitted and deferred students refrain from making any schedule changes until we grant permission in writing.
