Hey! UCSD Junior studying Biochemistry and Cell Biology, pre-med track attending ERC!
Congrats on getting accepted to colleges that’s super awesome.

Your experience at any college will honestly be whatever you make of it. But there are tons of opportunities at UCSD that are available for you to make the best of your experience!

There is definitely truth to UC Socially Dead. It can be very quiet on campus, but what I’ve noticed is that people have fun anyway!

Some outlets:
The Beach!
Intercollege Semi-Formals
LBTQIA Dances
and in Spring Quarter our infamous SUN GOD.

Personally, I love Sixth. It has a sort of reputation for not being as good as the others because it is new but from my freshmen year, I’m certain that the res hall students are a tight knit community. They have a lot of spirit and events that bring the college together. Since the dorms have only 20 or so rooms per building, it is easy to become friends with the entire building.

Don’t let Camp Snoopy scare you just from its cabin like appearance. The inside is a normal dorm and dorms will be dorms. It’s not any worse than other college housing (though ERC is nice but far away) and it’s only two floors instead of say, 10 at Muir.

Big plus: I would put Sixth 3rd after Warren in terms of GEs for one reason… no upper division GE requirements save for CAT 125 (which is easier than CAT 1,2 and 3).

Is it true that students in residence hall cannot stay during breaks (spring/winter)?
Can you stay during spring/winter break if you live in an apartment?
As a freshmen undergraduate, would I be able to get a room in the apartment?
I’m an international student so it would be troubling if I had to fly back every few months…

@immachicken- I think international students live in I-House which don’t have to leave over breaks. The apartments work the same way. I would email housing on that question, but since you are international they know you can’t leave.
