DUKE DOES NOT, talked to an admissions rep on Tuesday, neither does NYU if anyone is interested.

Hopkins does not superscore the ACT. Their admissions rep told me the other day that the ACT is not meant to be superscored and therefore they do not superscore them, they accept your highest composite score.

I just googled it and got this list:

Colleges that super score ACT : College Admissions Counseling

Hey guys, I'll be applying to Cornell ED and according to that site above, Cornell superscores! If my highest composite of 34 becomes a 35 when superscored, should I send my June ACT to Cornell, even though I have significantly lower scores in the other sections?

June ACT:
35E/32R/30M/26S
Composite: 31

Sept. ACT:
34E/36R/35M/32S
Composite: 34

Superscored:
35E/36R/35M/32S
Composite: 35

Chalex
Great list. Thank you very much for the post.

I can confirm that University of Colorado - Boulder does superscore the ACT. My D asked their admissions office. She received the reply - "We do take the highest subsections from different tests so make sure that we receive all of your test dates scores."

Wow can someone confirm that Stanford superscores? That would be amazing if it's true..

llpitch, I've called them and i've asked an admissions officer for Stanford twice...maybe at one point they did superscore. But now, let me be clear:

They do NOT superscore in terms of what I think you're saying.
STANFORD only looks at your highest COMPOSITE and then your highest separate WRITING + ENG. Score.

So, that's kind of "superscoring" but not if you want them to create a new composite from the subscores of ea. section.

New list: Brown doesnt. But I know Rensselaer does however--talked to an admissions rep.

I just had a NYU rep visit my school for an information session and I asked if they superscored the ACT. NYU does superscore the ACT!

Yale definitely does NOT superscore the ACT, per an answer given on Sunday in Minnesota.

Colleges that super score ACT : College Admissions Counseling

also be careful with Cornell bcos not all their colleges might superscore (assuming that other link is accurate). Perhaps it's only the Hotel School, or the land-grant colleges....

So here's a question. There are 4 parts that make up the ACT composite. Say you take the ACT 4 times, and each time score your highest score on a different section. Will the colleges that superscore use all 4 tests to determine your highest composite? How is that "fair" compared to only 3 sections on the SAT (and they barely care about the SAT writing section)?

^^Yes. You can take the SAT (or ACT) as many times as you want. Some colleges do value the Writing component. But, note that the list of colleges that superscore the ACT is extremely small, while nearly every private college (and many publics) superscore the SAT.

btw: I don't believe the list in post #113 is accurate. I would urge seniors to e-mail the colleges and ask, unless their website is absolutely clear.

MB Some of you can answer this question. I had posted it on the MIT site and have had only one response that was incomplete. MIT is the first of Ds applications that superscore (but now we know to look at BC and RPI's info). On the application, the applicant must indicate score and DATE TAKEN, for the following, English, Reading, Math, Science, Composite, Writing and English/writing composite. My questions are if you superscore, do you calculate a "superscored" composite and if so how do you fill in the DATE TAKEN, and also can you take your best english and best writing and superscore them and if so what is its DATE TAKEN.

No, you list each test date separately with the actual results, and let the admission office decide whether or not to superscore.
