Can we start an official list of colleges, which superscore the ACT?

Yes, NYU does superscore. An NYU rep visited my high school last week and I specifically asked this question and she said yes they do superscore the ACT.

I just called NYU. They do not superscore. The website says they only superscore the SAT.

Hm, that's weird. She specifically told me they do superscore the ACT... unless she thought I said SAT or just didn't have her facts straight. =</p>

I think you should call them again.

what does '10 char' even mean?

meet the 10 character post minimum....10 char (completely unnecessary :] )

As for MIT being "vague" - On the actual application, the applicant provides each single highest ACT component and the test date that the score was achieved. Therefore each component could technically be from completely separate test dates. The only part that had seemed confusing when D applied was that the applicant also has to put down the highest single composite with the date that it was achieved. At first, I was confused by this and I thought that they do not superscore. Later my conclusion (right or wrong) was that they superscore based on your highest single components but then also have your single highest composite to also consider. The score section of MIT's application was different from any of the other schools to which D applied.

Does anyone know if Wesleyan superscores?

I'm almost positive they do not, Pineapple.

smoda, I think your right on that.

Its all that really makes sense, otherwise they wouldn't ask for a date for composite score. Maybe this is really just a test to weed out people who are too stupid to properly apply to MIT... :D

suny stony brook superscores

Carnegie Mellon DEFINITELY superscores. I've applied there, and on my login, it has all my highest individual scores listed. For instance, I got a 33 on the math the 1st time and a 32 the second time, and they have my 33.

Birmingham Southern College

Here's a list:
Colleges that super score ACT : College Admissions Counseling

What is confusing is for instance, G.Washington is on the list, but on their site, an admission question last year answered it as no....I guess you have to ask individually to be sure.

Why do colleges super-score one and not the other? Is it any more fair to give the best of the SAT than the best of the ACT?

The reason they superscore the SAT is that the SAT total is not an average, it's a sum of all three scores. Because the ACT composite is an average, many schools do not superscore. However, it seems that schools that are now looking at the ACT in the same light as the SAT are superscoring so that the two tests are comparable.
