man all the southwest tickets are gone, fxxx, i am so screwed.

yea, but not for winter break

you can't for winter break if you are in the units/foothill/clark kerr. spring break is okay though.

k, thanks a lot, btw when is the winter break?

it starts december 21 i think. i don't know when it ends though.

its weird, semester begins on jan 13 but the instruction starts on jan 20, so when should we get back from winter break? and btw we can leave all the stuff in residencial halls right?

well the break technically starts after you're done with the last final exam

You can come back anytime after the 13th, which I think is when the reshalls reopen to students. Most ppl return a few days before the start of classes (aka the 20th) to maximize their breaks.

Yea, you can leave your stuff. Just don't leave valuables out, maintenance does inspections of all the rooms.

k thats very very helpful, gona book my ticket asap. so u mean when i am done with my last final exam i can leave right away?

When I got home after last winter break, one of the people who had done my room inspection had somehow ripped my usb mouse out of my computer with such force that they actually destroyed my front USB ports. Every cord plugged in to my computer and UPS had been unplugged, even though nothing was plugged in to the wall. I'm pretty sure my RA saw "everything must be unplugged" on the checklist and assumed that applied to absolutely everything including stuff not plugged in to the wall, but could never get anyone to admit it.

So... don't leave anything at all laying about in a place that could potentially be damaged, even if it seems like it's something that would be really really hard to damage.

People come into our rooms during winter break to do room inspections?

celsius_233 - Yes.

Dang.. do they have a reason/explanation for that? I don't like the idea of a stranger in my room when no one else is there.

Does that mean we have to take home the microwaves and refrigerators and all that "contraband" stuff?

they don't care about microwave and fridge. But if you have like a hot plate, or something similar that is restricted ("if it glow it goes"), they won't take it, but will tell you that you need to get rid of it.

Well knowing that they want you to rent microwaves and refrigerators from THEM, why wouldn't they tell you to get rid of it?

how about water boiler and rice cooker...

Because they say that every year and no one (me included) has ever had any problems with that.

As for water boiler and rice cooker, I would just suggest putting them somewhere out of sight, they aren't going to rummage thru your stuff, just a quick glance looking for restricted items.

hmm so r u suggest that i should bring my desktop and monitor home instead of just taking the hard drive with me?

I'd recommend taking as many of your valuables back home. I pretty much packed everything I couldn't take home in boxes and stuff and put it all in my closet, and my roommate did pretty much the same thing.

southwest tickets are gone already?! for thanksgiving break or what?
