I was wondering if I can take 6 units over the summer at my CC. I'm currently at 62 units, so I would still be under 70. I just figured that would mean less workload at Berkeley. I just don't know whether we need to contact someone at Berkeley and get it approved or what?

I would call just to be safe.

I'm interested in this too, since the tuition at UCs costs an arm and a leg over my current school. Did you call already?

Completing non-required units/courses over the summer is typically allowed by the UC campuses, unless you have unit requirements to be concerned about (students who have attended a 4 year campus). Be sure to do well in these courses and keep the UC campus informed on these courses you are completing. Failing these courses, even though they are extra courses, could have an effect on your admission.

Read your agreement online. It's one of the steps to completing your SIR (even if you don't finish the steps to completing your SIR, you can still read it.)

Mine says:

Important: If you choose to attend summer session 2008, you must notify your UC Berkeley Admissions Officer by email and your final, official transcript must be received in our office by September 5, 2008. NOTE: You may not attend a 4-year college/university without prior permission from your Admissions Officer.

Is there a max number of units we can have completed before we enter? I can't seem to find the max units, only the minimum (and that's just for applying..)

They will only allow you to transfer 70 units. You can take more than that but they won't transfer over. I'm not sure what the max amount you can have is though.
