I really liked UChicago's essay question "Find x."

Yes, you can.

It’s often called “recycling” essays. It’s common and perfectly acceptable.

One can recycle essays but be warned when using UChicago prompts… Every single adcom at top schools will where the question came from (especially something like “find x”) so they will know that you recycled the essay AND that the topic idea was not yours.

I think he meant he just wants to use the essay, not the topic, cause yeah most adcoms probably do know the other topics out there in a given year. But also, I don’t see how one could use the find x essay for any other school, that essay is so individualized that it seems like it would be hard to fit it to anything else.

^ With something like “find x” if you can reuse the essay without reusing the topic you would need to edit so heavily that you may as well write another essay. I mean I have not read the OP’s essay so I do not know this or certain but to adapt find x can not be easy to do…
