Hello. I've recently been accepted to the Commonwealth Honors College in UMass Amherst. I was wondering whether undergraduate freshmen who attend UMass Amherst could attain "sophomore status" provided that they bring in enough AP exam credit and graduate within three years. If so, how much AP exam credit do you need to attain enough credit to enter the college as a sophomore?

I don’t remember the exact number, but I think you need 28-30 credits or so to have sophomore standing.

I think whether you can shave a year off will depend on your major and whether you can 1) use all your AP credits to satisfy degree requirements and 2) get in all your required classes for your degree in only three years.

You will have to examine the degree requirements closely to figure it out, or ask someone at UMass how possible it is.
