ED always gives you a greater chance of getting in
so i was wondering if you can apply for ED for more than 1 school
like is there a way to reject one if you get in for them all
or is that completely not allowed

I think the only way you can get out of ED is if you absolutely cannot pay. You cannot apply ED to more than one school, as it's binding. Do not apply ED unless you are certain you want to go there and you can afford it.

The POINT of ED is that you PROMISE TO ENROLL if accepted. So no, no more than one school. Ever. You will end up recinded from both schools, or your couselor will refuse to sign the ED agreement.

The only exception to the "one school" rule involves the concept of ED II. Some schools offer an ED option with an application deadline sometime in November, and an ED II option with an application deadline at the same time as the regular deadline.

If you apply to one school for ED I, and are rejected or deferred, you can apply elsewhere for ED II. If you get accepted ED I, then of course, you cannot apply ED II anywhere; your applications are done.

But you can apply only to one school for ED I and one school for ED II.

Alternatively, there is EA. You can apply to multiple schools if they have EA programs, which are not binding. (Single-choice early action or SCEA is another story--not binding, but you can only apply there.)

Some examples of schools with EA are the University of Chicago and Georgetown.
