Can you apply to an Honors College as a freshman/sophomore?

If I don't get accepted into my 1st/2nd choice schools, I want to know if I will be able to apply for Honors while a student.

Thanks :D

PS: How competitive is the Dean's Honors for Natural Science?

If you aren't accepted an honors program before you actually start classes, I believe that it's invitation-only.

Dean's Scholars is quite competitive. It is a small group.

When you become an upper level student, you can be in an honors type program in your major and graduate with, say, "honors in biology."

If you don't get into the Honors program, don't be upset.

You can graduate with Honors without being in the Honors program. You can also do research as an undergrad without being in the Honors program.

Oh sweet, thanks alot.

Dean's Scholars Honors doesnt use the invitation process.
Anybody can apply, including those not currently in college of natural sciences provided you will declare a major there.
However, you need to get 2 good letters of recommendation from your professors, and have a GPA of 3.75 or above for the semester. Getting in there as a student at UT is pretty competitive.
