Can you apply to different UC's with different majors?

I was wondering if it is possible for me to transfer into different UCs with different majors. (ie. transfer to UCB for pyschology and UCLA for communications). I currently go to a community college and would like to know if I can only stick with one major when applying to UCs or I can apply with different majors.
Thanks.

You can apply to different UC with different majors.

but lets say i major in math and minor in CS is it possible that ill get accepted to math but not CS ?

When you apply, I believe there is no option to pick a minor. I think once you get accepted, then you can probably petition or add a minor, but not during applying.

It doesn’t matter, and as far as getting math or CS, you can switch that around later at almost any campus.

That and math is almost never impacted, nor is CS in most colleges, so if you want math with a CS minor you’ll probably get it.

Psych and Comms are pretty similar too…

I’d be impressed if someone applied to say, UCB for Music and UCD for Architecture and UCI for uh… Pre-Med. That’d be something. xD

I’d love to see that dude’s 1st prompt.

Its crazy how they say you can pick any major as an alternate, and as wwlink suggested the PS can make for some interesting reading!!

umm …uhh… My grandmother died last year and that had a profound impact on me which led me to choose the medical profession …buuttt, my love for music is so strong and made me realize that a career in music is something that would also fulfill my life’s dream …aaannd my mother’s job as an accountant ignited my passion for business and revealed to me my business persona…!!! ROFLM    …I would love to be a fly on the wall when that PS is read!

How would I go about writing my personal statement, since I have to write about my intended major as one of my prompts as a transfer student? Would I make a different personal statement per UC I apply too?

“I don’t care what I spend the rest of my life doing, I just want to go to UC Berkeley and I heard the acceptance rate for Zekichuman Studies was the highest!”

"Well, you see the truth is I met this hot chick at my college and she’s transferring to UCB next year and I really want to go to the same school so we can share an apartment. "

;)

You only write one PS for all the UC’s. I kind of faced your issue because I applied to UCLA/Davis/Irvine/UCSD as either econ/business econ, but I applied to Cal as Environmental Economics and Policy. It wasn’t TOO difficult for me because I was able to incorporate some stuff geared for Cal in my essays, but it really shouldn’t be a big problem.

I remember helping my friend write her PS when she applied to some places as Psych and some as Math. We just worked on mixing info on both of them so it wouldn’t look TOO one-sided. However, I’ve seen people get into UCLA as socio when their essay was completely about econ…so it’s really a tricky line.

In a word, yes.
