Can you appy ED and EA to two schools?

Does anyone know if you apply to a school ED if it prohibits doing EA as well since that is non binding? or instance Bard EA and Bowdoin ED?

In general, ED is considered binding if you are accepted and EA is not. If you are accepted at your ED school you would be expected to withdraw your EA application at the other school just as you would with a RD application. If you were accepted at your EA school first you would need to withdraw your ED application at the other school before receiving an acceptance, otherwise you would end up with a conflict in which it would be expected that you withdraw your EA application or decline your EA acceptance.

Ifwhat you are saying is that your ED school prohibits applying elsewhere EA as a term and condition of your ED application, that's a different matter however, the chances of an ED school knowing that you applied elsewhere EA are virtually non-existant, unless you tell them.

I guess the confusion is that I know you can only apply ED to one school and I wasn't sure if they also prohibited all other applications at that time.
Also does anyone know how much difference applying ED in Nov vs. Jan makes?

Apply ED (one) and EA (unlimited) = good

No idea how SCEA works with ED though.

Can't do Georgetown EA with another ED.
I am pretty sure that goes for Stanford and Yale's SCEA, as well.

^^^Yeah, Georgetown's EA (Restricted early action) means no ED, Stanford's EA (Single choice early action) means no ED or EA, but regular early action are compatible with any other early action or 1 early decision.

Same with Boston College, cant be applying ED anywhere

If neither Bard nor Bowdoin have restrictions on their websites, then you can do as you have proposed. Check the websites of colleges you want to attend very carefully for their requirements.

what does SCEA stand for

Single Choice Early Action

Have to look at the rules. Current rules, as they can change. You can usually apply ED with any number of EAs if any of the EAs and the ED you have picked do not have rules forbidding this. Last I looked, Bard EA with Bowdoin ED is fine. I know a bunch of kids who did Bard EA with ED, even one who did the very combination. But that was last year. Who knows what the new rules will be?

collegeboard is confusing me. it says if you apply ED you can't apply "early" anywhere else?

AKittka, it depends on the school. The only "universal rule" is that you can not apply ED at 2 schools. As to EA, check each school's website to determine whether a school has restrictions on applying EA

yeah i always thought you could apply EA anywhere and ED at one school. i know that there are a few exceptions though.
