Can you be excused from homework?

I went to school on Friday, was sick this entire weekend, and am now (Sunday night) close to being fully recovered. I don't want to miss school tomorrow because I'm not sick enough to do so, and I don't want to risk falling behind. Plus it's very late, so I don't want to pull an all-nighter just to finish my homework and get even sicker.

I've never tried this before.. but if my parents wrote a note addressed to my teachers explaining that I was ill this weekend and as a result, couldn't complete my homework, would this be sufficient to excuse me from my homework and to give me an extra day to turn it in?

Sorry if the answer to this is really obvious.. as I said, I've never tried it before. Parents' notes can get you out of school, so can they get you out of finishing your homework?

Just try talking to your teacher. If your not a slacker in class they should allow you an extra day to complete it.

Hmm…I was in the same situation almost. I got sick on Tuesday (no school Wed. missed Thurs. and Fri.) and got better over the weekend.

I just did as much as I could and I talked to each of my teachers about it. Obviously, I knew which teachers I could get away with not doing my hw and I planned accordingly. So in total, I ended up getting an extension on 3/5 of my classes.

I didn’t need a parent’s note because that kinda seemed too elementary to me. I just talked to them and things worked out.

We’ve a makeup policy where you have so many days determined by how many class days you missed to turn in your work after being sick. Doesn’t apply to long term assignments, and probably not planned trips. And there’s always teacher discretion, talk to them.

^I didn’t miss any class days… I was sick over the weekend.

Eh, talk to your teacher.

Email your teachers about being sick…

I feel that getting your parents involved would be childish UNLESS a specific teacher hates you or your teachers won’t give you an extension.

If they just glance at it, then just BS it. If they collect it and look at it, then get a note.
