<p>I like hsmomstef's suggestion, telling the school you would accept an offer if one were proferred. As she mentions, you're not going to receive 4 offers at the same time, so it is still being honest (compared to saying "you're my number one choice" to all 4 schools.)</p>
<p>From what I have read on how to handle a waitlist situation is to write a letter to the Admissions Office and restate your reasons for wanting to attend the school, mention any recent accomplishments or pertinent new information about which the school may not be aware and emphasize that you will attend if offered admission from the waiting list.</p>
<p>I've read it is better to write a letter, rather than call and lobby on your own behalf. Also, while still staying on the waitlist(s), look at the other choices available to you and plan out other options.</p>
