You’re a genius. Holy wow.
Congratulations on your amazingness!

and you’re a varsity cheerleader too? Holy craziness. Do you really think you might not get in? Unless you insult the AdCom, I think you’re good to go.

I am intrigued by your name. Please tell me you’re not a ■■■■■.

No, I am not a ■■■■■. The DiamondsXXX represents a gem necklace that my sister gave to me, although it wasn’t a real diamond. (she died when she was thirty, hence the XXX). Anyways, back to the topic.

Ok…don’t get me wrong but even though your scores, rank are stellar, I would still consider Upenn a reach. Keep in mind that you are asian, and will be held to higher standards. Many asian applicants have perfect SATs and GPAs. Furthermore your ECs don’t seem to show dedication. You say that you want to be an electrical engineering major, but even though your the founder of the robotics club, any ivy is likely going to want to see more. Many applicants participate and receive awards in national competitions to really show their dedication. I’m not saying you don’t have a fair chance, because you do, and I think that with great essays, that really show the adcoms who you are, you’ll get in. I have to emphasize though, write about something that makes you DIFFERENT from all other asian applicants with perfect scores and GPAs. Good Luck! :)

Thanks for the candidness. I would be very very happy to get into Penn(or any top-tier school).

That’s really pretty impressive. Honestly, I think its better than my ECs and I got in so… you should be fine as long as your essays are good

I think that your chances are better than Bee0815 makes them out to be - I wouldn’t consider Penn to be a reach for you. Your scores/rank are very solid, and any disadvantage you may have for being asian (which I think tends to be overstated at times anyways) is more than compensated by the fact that you are a female who is applying to Penn’s engineering school, which is decent but certainly not MIT/Caltech level. Like others have said, focus on playing up what makes you unique and different from other science orientated asian females.

the asian factor is way too exaggerated.
i think you’re fine.

<— Asian Male accepted early
You’re SATs, GPA, Class Rank are all better than mine.
Of course there might be different requirements since I’m assuming you’re applying for engineering and I applied to CAS.

Asian factor is overrated, we’re still a minority even at Penn.

I think being female really helps for SEAS and you should have a very good chance to get accepted. There are just not many female interested in EE period so that should work in your favor. Cheerleading gives me a little strange momentary pause, but not in a bad way.

If not Penn, you should have many opportunities at many other good EE schools.

You’ll probably get in.

is Penn your safety?
I’m going to make a bold statement: enjoy MIT

you are a genius. if you don’t get into penn, you’ll be somewhere equally as amazing so i say don’t worry and just wait for the decisions :)

Ok, well first of all, as alot of others have said, the whole “asian antihook thing” has been REALLY overstated by some people here. As an asian, your treated slightly harsher than whites are but its not huge of a jump in selectivity. Now, on to your chances. Well, your rank and scores are good…I personally would have tried for a 2300+ on the SAT but your very solid there. Your ECs are decent too. Does your school not have any science/enginnering type clubs though? If they don’t your fine. Though, my school didn’t have any science clubs previously, so I founded one…I don’t think its a huge deal. Overall, you have a good shot at Penn as your aren’t going for Wharton. Best of luck!

Be proud of who you are.

I’m an asian female and I got into SEAS early decision. My stats were similar to yours. Don’t worry  Race isn’t that big of a factor.

^that’s great!

I believe SEAS is easier to get into than CAS, and definitely easier than Wharton.

Consider your Asian semi-anti-hook balanced out by your female semi-hook.

You’re probably in.

Some girl from my school who was a female applying for engineering had an 1890 SAT and like a 3.9 GPA got admitted ED.
