Can you chance me for Northeastern?

I visited the campus and went on a tour today, and I fell in love. Northeastern is my top school at the moment, so can you please chance me?

-3.6 unweighted GPA, 4 AP classes (rest mainly Honors), 20th in my class of about 300
-Recipient of the Mount Holyoke Book Award, 10 underclassmen awards given by my school, the Most Improved Golfer Award, and the All Academic Team Award (meaning that I received First Honors while playing varsity golf)
-29 ACT, did awful on SATs (1680 overall) but retaking in the fall
-Student Council president, editor of my school paper for 2 years, National Honor Society member, French Club, golf team member for 4 years
-For volunteer work, I've helped out with Special Olympics and I hold food drives in my community for a local food pantry.

I'm a good writer so I'll hopefully be able to write a good essay, and I'll be getting good recommendations.

Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not, but I'll be applying to the College of Arts & Sciences for either a Communications Studies or Journalism degree.

Thank you!

You’re in without a doubt. Bring your SAT up to about a 1900 and you have nothing to worry about. I think applying to the College of Arts & Sciences will only help because I don’t think it’s as competitive as other NEU schools (although I could be wrong). Northeastern is my top choice too! (:

Okay great, thanks! Also, I’m not taking science my senior year. Will this affect my chances? I’ve taken all of my required labs and classes but science really isn’t my thing. Instead of science I’m taking Marketing which fits better with my future career plans.

if you bring up your sat scores you’ll definitely get in.

I’ll see how the retake goes, but chances are, I’ll just submit ACT scores.
Also, any opinions about the whole no science thing?

You should just submit your ACT because its much higher. Whats the rest of your senior schedule since your not taking science?

Here is my schedule: Study Hall, Psychology (2nd Sem - Sports & Entertainment Marketing), Sociology (2nd Sem - Health/Study Hall), AP Statistics, Journalism 3, AP English, and AP French 5.
I’ve taken Bio, Chem, and Physics which are the required sciences at my schools.
I’m thinking of applying to Northeastern Early Action, if that makes any difference.

You should get in, seeing how marketing is more for your future goals it shouldn’t affect your chances. ACT is pretty decent and SAT need to be higher. I used to be like you high ACT and low SAT (ACT-31 composite and SAT - 1860) but I’m trying to raise my SAT score. I am also looking at Northeastern and early action would make little difference and might even reduce your chances seeing how people with 4.0 UW gpas or 2400 SAT scores or people similar to that apply early, but hope you get in. Im a senior too and trying to get into my into my first choice chapel hill

Thanks for the help, greenfire. I hope you get into Chapel Hill - good luck! I’m gonna work on raising the SAT score but if it doesn’t happen, I’ll just send ACT.
By any chance, does anyone know what a 29 ACT score is equivalent to on the SAT scale? I’ve asked before but just want to see if the answers are similar. Thanks!

Your right on with northeastern’s stats and your EC’s are good.
Northeastern=Match

Thanks for the tables! 1980/29 definitely tops my 1680.
Good to hear that most seem to think I stand a chance at Northeastern. Wish me luck! (:

Hey everyone, just so you know, I got into Northeastern! :]
