is it possible to change major if i get admited to ucla or cal? (still waiting)
I applied as biochemistry major in ucla, chemical biology major in cal. my gpa is 3.94. But i'm now kinda interested in statistical science or actuary. is statistic major impact in ucla or cal? or there is no chance to change major once you get admitted??????

i think you could change it to stats major if you have most of the pre-req done for it.

omg...i applied exactly same majors for those two schools as u did. i want to change to Molecular and Cell Bio too. is it possible to change? anyone?

one thing I am pretty sure. You can not change major to BizEcon at UCLA after you have been admitted. For other majors, you need to go and check out their website.

u do know how much math knowledge is required for an actuary right (~fellowship level)?

go assist.org. It can tell you the requirement for different college

why you change your major? you have done tons of bio chem classes...... anyway, glad you find your way

ucla has a math major focused on actuarial science. I think that would be better suited for your interests. It's hard work becoming an actuary, and kinda boring BUT the pay is very good. Talk to/email some real people working in the field and ask them what it's like. You've continually got to study and pass a series of exams to make it in the field.

sunny767, at UCLA you will definitely be able to change to MCDB if you wish, at any time, even as a 4th year (so long as you will not be going over the unit cap).

carolqq, I don't believe stats is impacted, but it should be relatively easy to switch, as both biochem and stats are within the College of Letters & Science.

i might change it also... still thinking about it

from what to what torrancecali? Just curious...

what ever that i could change it to... i dont have specific plan.!(I know there are some major that i can not change it to)

Actuarial work is math work, and there really isn't any way around that.

if you already got into ucla is it possible to change from an anthropology b.s. to psychobiology?

you can switch as long as its not impacted

it says on assist.org that its highly impacted but ive done most of the major pre-reqs for it…i still wouldnt have a chance at changing it because ive been admitted for fall 09 already

You should email the department you want to switch into. I was admitted as a Psychology major but wanted to switch to a Physiological Science major (which I don’t think is impacted). I emailed someone last week and they said you can’t switch into a life science major So you better check officially to see what they say.

Physiological Science is a life science. All the life science majors are impacted.

[UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Transfer Prep - Letters and Science majors](Major Preparation in the College | UCLA Undergraduate Admission)

look at the asterisk next to life sciences which denotes that it is impacted.

oh ok thanks! yea i spoke to the psych department to see if i could switch from anthro b.s. to psychobio b.s. and all they said was that its only possible if you have been admitted as a life science major, but im not sure if a b.s. in anthro constitutes as a life science…or does it??
