Suppose you have taken Physics and Chemistry in one sitting. When the scores are out, you find you didn't do quite well in Chemistry. Can you request to send only the Physics score report to colleges?

Thanks!

Yes. .

Yes, however do you have another subject test to send? Generally schools that request subject tests want two (the exception being Georgetown that still wants three).

Is that also true to colleges that want all the scores? Or for them you need to send every single tests you took?

Some colleges purport to require you to send all scores. Yale is one for example. However, you can still use score choice to send what you want, there is no way for them to know if you sent all the scores or not. It is believed that the “all scores” requirement is widely ignored, at least for subject tests, and many people probably even don’t realize that it exists in some schools. But obviously, up to you.

^^Thanks! Very helpful. It looks like nowadays very few schools require more than 2 subject tests. I guess it’s pointless to send more than what they ask? Georgetown will be on our shortlist anyway, so I guess 3 is the minimum for us.

One reason a student would send more than the requested subject tests is if they are an exceptionally good tester. Multiple tests with outstanding scores can sometimes help a student whose GPA or SAT1’s may be slightly below the schools average acceptance rate.

I’ll add a side note. You can choose which subjects to send, but if you take one subject more than once, you have to send all of those scores - you can’t just pick the score from one date only.

^^Ah I see. Great info. Thanks all!

If applying to say any of the Ivy equivalent schools I would send any score over 750 and probably any score over 700. For most other colleges any score over 700 is going to be a plus. PinotNoir are you sure? That would be a change from the way it was set up last year.

Pinotnoir, I do not believe you are right. Score choice lets you select both subject and test dates. If you take a subject test twice you do not need to send both scores -we just did this. As to whether to send additional SATII scores, our counselor’s advice is to send all scores above 700 to show mastery of many different subjects.
