I took my MPE this weekend and very anxious to see how I did and where I placed. I will be studying computer engineering. I am trying to look up classes and professors but I feel like its a waste of time if I don’t know which math I will be placed in. Also, since I don’t know what I received on my AP calc test, I don’t know if I will be exempt from lower classes. I read on a previous thread they were able to contact the school and get the results. Does the school frown upon this or will they give me the results so I can start trying to make a schedule.
They give results at orientation. Never considered getting results in advance so don’t know how to answer that. Understand that the highest “placement” is math140. So the only way to sign up for a higher level class is to get a 4 or 5 on the AP exam. So the question for u is how strong u are in math.
I’d just wait on the calc exam. If you got into umd you’ll almost certainly score high enough for credit and it places you higher than the placement test
You can’t actually schedule classes until orientation so unless your orientation is before AP scores come out I wouldn’t worry about it. Otherwise you’ll have time the first night of orientation to make any necessary adjustments to your schedule after you receive your placement exam results before you can actually make your schedule on the second day
My son was able to convince the guy in the math office to let us know. That’s because if he didn’t place into 140, he would have had to enroll in his current community college to take it and waiting until orientation would have been too late, so they basically told him. It was important because he was transferring in with most of his Gen Eds done and there was almost nothing he could take without starting on his major sequence which required 140. That is certainly NOT standard practice and if you have no real reason to know other than just curiosity, just wait until orientation.
Thank you, guess I will wait till then. I didn’t realize you get the results the night before scheduling, Thought they gave it to you as you sat down with them on the second day.
