I'm wondering if I could change/customize the common app for a specific school.

An example: If I wanted to apply to School A, I would put Biology as my major. But, if I were to go to School B, a school that is stronger in business, I would want to major in something other than Biology (EX: Economics).

Would I be able to put a different major down for one school?

Ah, I see. But from what I remember, doesn’t the Common App have a space where it asks for your intended major/general direction of what you want to study?

You’re right. On the main common app, it’s done on the future plans section. This has to be filled out for every school, so it is okay to put different things. It will make a lot more sense once you actually start.

So if you’re looking to customize your application information for each school you’re applying to (a great idea, by the way), you can do so by creating different versions of your application. To my knowledge, this is the easiest way to go about it because one you submit your application to one school, you lose the ability to edit it when you’re applying to schools after that.

Another question: If you submit your Common App early to one school, are you able to change it before submitting to other schools during regular decision?

Though my answer might be a bit late, but for the records, you cannot modify your application once you have submitted it.

I applied to Stanford early and now I cannot edit the application for the other universities. Of course, you can replicate you application (as I have done), but that’s different.
