Can you do AP exams you never prepared at school for?

Is it common in America for people to do AP Exams without taking the classes for it at school?

Usually if the student is motivated, and the AP class isn't offered at their school.

Yes you can do it, and it is a fairly common thing to do.

Not so common around here.

its actually not that common (at least where i live it isn't). i learned about it on cc... you can though, its not so hard as long as you actually study.

Okay, thanks

it is pretty common

Well it depends on what you mean by common, yes its common and very common actually if you are talking about here on CC. but if you live in the real world, then its not that common. But yea its pretty easy and feasible to do.

common?

I had never even heard about it until I came to this website. But I suppose it depends on what type of school you go to.

depends.
i took AP bio without the class..

You need to be self-motivated and willing to study on your own. Oh, and my friend took the AP bio exam without the class as well.

Well, I want to go to a top school like MIT so I guess it would be common with their candidates...

I'm thinking of taking a History and Statistics on self study
