I have a question. Can you enroll in any college at the semester mark? If I was to take a break for an entire semester, and enroll midyear, is that possible? I know in High School this happens all the time, but I'm not that familiar with college to tell you the truth. I'm not talking about a college transfer by the way. Do only some colleges do this, or do most allow this practice? Thank You ^^

I don’t know about all colleges, but the local state school in my town will let you do that. I think private schools might be more strict about that sort of thing.

Keep in mind many full and partial cost scholarships are only good for so many years. So if you take a term off or study abroad you lose that scholarship money and have to pay for the extra time it takes to complete your studies.

there are definitely some colleges that allow you to enroll in jan/feb. (even LACs). for instance, i know that middlebury has such an option and that many students take advantage of enrolling in feb. in this case, those “feb” students would also graduate in feb. bates, claremont mckenna, and hamilton also allow students to enroll in jan.

check colleges’ websites or applications. i’m sure you can find more schools. many colleges lose juniors to study abroad in the spring semester, so they have empty dorm rooms. therefore, they even prefer for some students to arrive in jan/feb. hope this helps.

This really depends on colleges which fall into three categories: (a) some do not have any mid-year admissions except they may allow a fall admittee to choose to defer for a semester and start in spring; (a) some, as to those applying for fall semester, will offer entry in spring because you did not make first cut or allow you to defer a semester after being admitted for fall, but do not have a separate application and admissions program just for beginning the spring semester; (c) some have separate application periods and admissions for the spring semester.
