depends on your school. they will take it in context.
my school lets juniors take 1 ap course, and a couple to few more in senior year.
so when i applied as a senior, i had 0 ap courses, but had three planned for senior year.

i have no AP credit, but i am admitted

My son has no APs and was admitted to Viterbi.
He did have lots of honors classes and took two community college classes (Calculus and Physics) senior year.
Neither of the high schools he attended offered any APs and we learned about the possibility of self-study and taking the AP tests too late (senior year).
He probably would do things differently if he had his whole high school career to do over again, but it all worked out because he’s going to USC!

LizzyZee you should check out the thread “OFFICIAL School of Cinematic Arts 2014 Applicants/Results” There are a variety of people who got in to Film Production with a variety of GPA’s, SAT grades, AP/IB etc courses or none at all. Georgia Girl is right, for the special schools like SCA the portfolio carries lots of weight. But for the majority of students USC looks for students who take “the most rigorous course of study”. There are always exceptions. Some students get in with no AP’s and low GPA. They have something else USC is looking for, like maybe the fact they are from China or something like that.
