So this kid in my school got in EA to yale....and shes now applying to harvard. Her alumni interviewer actually knew that she got into Yale early (the alum is part of my town and heard through the grape-vine). Do you think that impacts harvard's decision at all for RD? are there any kids who get into either yale or harvard early, adn then manage to get into the other for RD?

why would you even apply to Harvard if you got into YALE. Doesn't she realize which school is better by now?

welcome to collegeconfidential!

There aren't any kids that get into both; only demigods, products of the Goddess Aphrodite and Chuck Norris.

Even then, those are few and far between, as Chuck Norris usually eats his offspring.

yeah, you can. i know a ton of people here who got into both.

Hahahahaha brand.

Wow, I usually hate Chuck Norris jokes but that was just really funny. I wonder if people who aren't from Texas hear those as much as we do.

I'm wondering the same thing myself. I wonder if there's anybody who gets into all 8 Ivies. Or if there's anybody who gets into HYPSM?

Of course you can get into both. That's why the two schools are so competitive with each other. Yale has a 71% yield rate (71% of accepted applicants go there) and the majority of the 30% who turn down Yale are doing it for Harvard.

Watch this video for proof:

thank you j07. I'm glad somebody enjoys my slightly twisted humor. Must be a Texas thing.

brand_182: haha, she's applying to Harvard to see if she can "get in". i find that annoying cuz i actually applied EA to harvard, but got deferred and still would like to go.

btw, mallomarcookie: thanks for that video. its awesome!

Hellohi, I'm guessing you don't want to go to Harvard quite as much anymore? That video was really an eye opener!

i know a kid who got into harvard stanford yale princeton and columbia, but rejected from brown!

There was a guy that got into all 8 Ivies plus Stanford and MIT last year. If you feel like it, look it up in one of the acceptance threads. It's really quite crazy. Some vietnamese guy...

They say if you drink Chuck Norris's tears you are automatically accepted to Harvard.

Too bad he's never cried.

Chuck Norris went to the Virgin Islands. When he came back, they were called the Islands.

"... guy that got into all 8 ivies" ...

Okay, a little excessive on the applying there, in my opinion. It's nice to know of acceptances and whatnot, but with application fees and the trouble, it's just worth applying to the couple (... 4 or 5 at most, IMO) of the Ivies you're really interested in. Especially if you get into one early ...

Got into Harvard early and dropped my apps for most other schools (perhaps why I'd an 100% acceptance rate?). Kept options open by keeping my apps for Princeton, Dartmouth, a 7-year med program, and Yale, but ... I didn't personally see the point in applying to every Ivy if I had a pretty good idea of where I really wanted to go.

Rory Gilmore got into a bunch of Ivies

Haha and we should definitely all look to Rory Gilmore for our factual evaluations of college admissions.

;)

"... guy that got into all 8 ivies" ...

Totally lost student with a supersize ego, if true.

I'm surprised (s)he didn't go for the whole ball of wax. Not like it's hard to post an acceptance on ALL the different results thread.

Good thing (s)he didn't meet Chuck Norris. :)

Chuck Norris once roundhouse kicked someone so hard that his foot broke the speed of light, went back in time, and hit "guy that got into all 8 ivies".

Hahahaha.

Ohh, I love CCers.
