Not saying that's what you averaged every semester, but that was what your final result was. Say you started off great and then plummeted until the beginning of your sophomore year of college and then things started really picking up also when you decided to take a third year at comm. college to get all of the IGETC out of the way. Grades such as:

AAA
BCBC
C
AABC
AAAAA
AAA
AAAAA
AAAAA

IGETC completed, 2 AS degrees (if wanted), all major req's completed. Non-competitive major.

You sure can; though it depends on the major. But since you’re non-impacted, you should be good. TAP is a major boost; the new generation of this forum seems to not understand this.

To give you a few instances:
A friend of mine got into UCLA with a 3.1 for Philosophy with TAP.
Another with a 3.3 Philosophy w/TAP
Another with a 3.1 for Geology w/TAP
Another 3.3 Biology w/TAP (although I’m surprised he got into Biology lol)

Notice how most of those are non-impacted majors: That’s because TAP is almost a guarantee for a non-impacted major.

As long as you have prerequisites done for both primary AND alternate major. As long as your alternate major is NOT an impacted major. As long as your GPA is around a 3.2 you should get in. That’s the beauty of TAP. I’ve never heard of anyone getting rejected with TAP without having made a stupid mistake.

For example: “WTH MAN I DID TAP I HAVE A 3.7 AND DIDN’T GET INTO EITHER ECON OR BISECON WTH TAP IS USELESS.”

@levonid- i have a 3.4 w/TAP and my alternate major only requires 1 pre req. However, i have gone to 4 ccs and none of them offer and equivalent course and i mentioned it on my uc app. Will i be fine?

Ah sorry! I completely forgot to respond. A 3.4 with TAP sounds good so long as you’ve got prereqs (or, in your case, depending on your major), simply taking classes that are relevant to your major will be enough. What’s your alt/primary major? What prereq do you need?

Yes I have the same question…I applied for American Lit and Culture, have a 3.64 right now but I’m missing 2 literature pre-reqs (weren’t offered at my CC but I’m taking other literature courses and am getting my AA in English, if that matters.)

If I do TAP what are my chances considering the missing pre-reqs? I check the stats and UCLA accepted 31/51 American Lit majors…

“WTH MAN I DID TAP I HAVE A 3.7 AND DIDN’T GET INTO EITHER ECON OR BISECON WTH TAP IS USELESS.”
Ugh that sounds like what will happen to me… I’m planning to apply to UCLA as econ or int’l business/bus.econ major (not sure about alt yet) with TAP. But are you saying TAP for economics majors doesn’t help much? What else can I do to increase my chances of getting in? I’m taking as many transferable business-related courses as I can. I have a part-time job and do a couple weekly volunteer work… but they’re not related to my major. Maybe I will start my own business lol. I reallyyyy want to get into UCLA econ. or I will die from sadness. >.<

^
exactly, your alt major needs to be unimpacted. TAP helps for all majors, it’s supposed to count towards one to two tenths of your overall gpa iirc.

Econ is super damn competitive. I checked out the stats on the UCLA transfer admission site and it said 111 applications admitted which avg 3.95 gpa. I have a lot of respect for those econ majors.
