How do acceptances work? Should I expect a single letter of acceptance/rejection or one for each major I applied to?
I read somewhere that someone got into both his first choice his and second one...

You are considered initially for your first choice major. If you are denied, then you will be considered for your second choice major. If you are denied again, then you will be considered as an undecided major to the school. And then if you are rejected, you will be sent a letter of rejection from the school itself.

Typically, you’ll only hear about one major–and that info is included in your admissions packet. Some get their first choice and others are a little surprised to see their 2nd choice or even Undeclared listed as the major on the letter with their admissions information.

If you get into your 1st choice major, you may never know if you were also on the acceptance list for your 2nd choice. Little known fact: due to the time needed to consider all applications, especially those that include reviewing audition material or supplements, the schools actually tend to review your application simultaneously. Dornsife (general admissions) also reviews your application and will make selections (in case you don’t get admitted to 1st & 2nd choice if both are in other schools at USC).

Pretty complicated process but they do seem to keep it straight.
