Is it possible to get rejected from a school, after being accepted in their early decision.?
If so, under what circumstances can they kick you (ex. how much do you have to drop in terms of marks, etc.)

Thanks!

Yeah your acceptance can be rescinded for behavioral problems, poor grades, etc.

“how much do you have to drop in terms of marks”

There aren’t any fixed rules; it’s on a case-by-case basis.

Hey thanks everyone! The thing is, last year the enriched/AP courses at my school were pretty easy (mostly cuz of the teachers), but tihs year, I’ve got diff teachers who are much harder in terms of teaching style/testing. I have a feeling that I can’t keep up last year’s 95 avg…But they only look at 11th grade marks for early decision acceptance right?

Acceptance yes, but usually there is a clause in your letter somewhere that says it’s dependent on finishing your education in reasonable fashion. That doesn’t always mean you have to maintain the 95, but if you slack off to “just get by” levels and play around the whole senior year (or most often the last semester). An 85 (or two) is not likely to kill your chances, but throw up 3 or 4 low C’s and some red flags go off. I’ve seen this affect merit awards more than admissions, but be aware that there are still responsibilities.

There are plenty of stories of Big 10 Schools, Ivies, Top level LAC’s, Notre Dame, Vandy pulling admissions based on academic misfortune. Admittedly, most of the rescinded admissions I’ve heard about are for Behavior (drugs and alcohol, cheating, legal and psychological problems, discipline problems at proms and graduation), but a bad case of “Senioritis” which sets in after the admissions letter arrives has been known to cause some unhappiness.

The GC and Administrators of our kids school PREACH the gospel every year and it seems like there is always somebody who tests the waters.

hey duncanidaho, that was really helpful thanks. If my marks really drop in some courses, I think the guidance counserlor will understand, and explain it to the universities (everyone at our school knows that physics 12 AP is like the hardest class in the school).
