Hi everybody!
I am new here and I don
t know so much about highschools and how to get there. It
s a dream of mine to go to a good highschool like Yale or Harvard. But I live in Germany and it`s really hard to manage this. I mean my schoolfelows laugh about me, because of my dream. They say that I never manage that. And it cost so much, I will never get enough money.
Maybe someone of you can told me his story? Or just what I have to do for an offer?

Guys. Stop making fun of her.

Alissa: I'd say if you want to get into a college/university such as Harvard or Yale, aim for the best. Best Grades. Best SAT's. Best Extra Curricular activities. Mainly, try to get good grades. Don't let your schoolfellows laugh at you. It's very possible :). Get good grades. Do well on tests (SAT's). And try to maintain a good life. Have passions and social life, don't just be all books :).

thank you protege!
It
s really unpleasent here :( just unfriedly persons! I mean Ok. I am young and it seems to me, that I don
t belong to this community. Why not? It makes me really sad. Do the others think that there are better ones? Or is it my bad English?
But in spite of this thank you protege :)

It's just your bad English. Don't take it personally.

As for the advice, protege is pretty much correct. Do what you like to do and do it well, whether this be out of school or not. Make sure to maintain great grades and prepare and do well on your SAT's. Never give up.

Haha Alissa. You're welcome :) How old are you anyways? I don't think anybody DOESN'T belong in this community. You're very welcome :) It's probably just your English isn't as fluent as many here. But that's okay, come to learn :). Private Message me if you have anything you want to talk about.

Thank you WindSlicer! It´s a nice advice :) It encourage me!

Yea... I know my English isn`t good, but I relly want to learn it :) So please when I make bad mistakes correct it.
Protege: I am 15...and thanks for the welcome :)

i was going to make fun of you, then i realized that your english is about 1000 times better than my french.

15-year old? you def. shouldnt be here... too dangerous. please enjoy your life. PLEASE!!

hey, that's a year older than me. let her be.

alissa, you can always check out the International Student Forum. There are lots of people just like you who want to study in the U.S. I myself came here only three years ago.

Hey, I didn't do anything, I was just clarifying what she said.

Justinian I, don't tell me you've never made a typo in your life. If you had bothered enough to look at her previous posts, you'd see it is spelled "really".

It's sad when we make fun of internationals who are learning English when so many native speakers have trouble with it.

Alissa: like others said, just concentrate on doing your best. Don't let this turn into "Ah, I got a 93% on a test, now I FAIL AT LIFE" scenario. Get involved in your school and community, push yourself to learn, and above all, have fun!

Considering that she is German, I don't see how her French is on the level of Voltaire's.

ChuckNorris: because germany is close to france and most germans speak multiple languages much better than anyone in the US.

(and her English is probably better than my German)

Thats why there's google translator!

... you are kidding right? online translators dont work AT ALL

Worked well enough for me to ace my Spanish (University level) written stuff this year. Not that I don't know, but its my senior year :D

... you're kidding. Does your teacher actually read your papers?

I edit it of course.

Oh, that makes more sense then... so you use google for vocab??

No I enter the english and translate.. Then I check for nuances and coherence.
